Valerie Wraith Captures SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Honors for Athenas Water Polo
CLAREMONT, Calif. - First-year attacker Valerie Wraith earned the SCIAC Women's Water Polo Offensive Player of the Week Award for games through Sunday, Feb. 18, the conference office announced today.
Wraith helped CMS to a 2-0 record at the Redlands Mini-Tournament on Saturday, picking up hat tricks in both contests. She had three early goals to help stake CMS to an 11-0 first-half lead in a 17-6 win over Redlands, and then had three goals, two of which tied the score, in a 12-9 win over Toronto.
For the season, Wraith ranks second on the Athenas with 24 goals through 10 contests, registering at least one in every game so far. In fact, she had one goal in her debut against CSU Northridge, and has multi-goal games in each of the last nine, including five games with three.
CMS will be back in action in 10 days for the Claremont Convergence on March 1-2, taking on USC, CSU Fullerton, Santa Clara and CSU Monterey Bay at the two-day tournament at Axelrood Pool.
