The Beavers hung tough for most of the first quarter, trailing 2-1 with the ball in the final few seconds, but CMS was able to get a stop and Courtney Coleman scored as the buzzer sounded to make it 3-1 Athenas going in the second quarter. McElroy and Kulick started the second quarter with goals, and after Caltech closed to within 5-2, Ka'imi Duncklee and Olivia Cairns scored in the final 1:32 of the half to make it a 7-2 CMS lead heading into intermission.
