Thirteen Athenas Earn ACWPC All-Academic Recognition

CLAREMONT, Calif. - A total of 13 members of the CMS women's water polo team were honored by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches on its All-Academic Team, the organization announced today.

Four members of the Athenas earned the highest recognition ("Outstanding") for earning a 3.7 grade point average or higher: senior Emma Choy, sophomore Anna Fry and first-years Ruth Efe and Emily McElroy.  Choy graduated from Claremont McKenna this spring with a degree in chemistry, earning the highest recognition from the ACWPC in her final collegiate season.

The five Athenas to capture Superior All-Academic honors (3.4 to 3.7 GPA) were seniors Kaitlyn Eng and Krystal Sung, sophomore Chandlyr Denaro, and first-years Maddy Menard and Veronica Show. Senior Haley Gibbs, junior Celeste Cerna, and first-years Ayla Huhn and Jessica Salaz captured Excellent All-Academic distinction (3.2 to 3.4 GPA) to give CMS a total of 13 honorees.

As a team, the Athenas had a 3.42 grade point average, which ranked tied for 16th nationally (all divisions) and tied for fourth in Division III. All four of the graduating seniors were honored on the individual teams.
