Athenas Combine For Sixth Highest Team GPA

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's water polo team combined to have a 3.49 grade-point average for the sixth-highest team GPA in collegiate water polo during the 2018 season. In addition, 10 Athenas qualified for the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic Team.
CMS has another record year in the Directors’ Cup standings

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics is ranked third in the 2017-18 Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, the program’s highest finish ever. This is the second-straight year that CMS has finished in the top-5 in the country.
Trio of Athenas Named ACWPC All-Americans

The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced their selections for the 2018 Women’s Division III All-America Teams on Thursday, and three Athenas garnered All-American accolades. Jessica Gaffney (CMC) was named First Team in her third-career honor. Roxy Kiessling (CMC) earned Second Team recognition, and Aracelia Aldrete (CMC) received an Honorable Mention nod.
CMS Claims 10th-Straight SCIAC All-Sports Trophy

For the 10th-straight year and 30th time in program history, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletic Department claimed the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Combined All-Sports Trophy. The Athenas earned 94 points this season and won the All-Sports Trophy on the women’s side by a 19-point margin, claiming their eighth-straight and 23rd overall. The Stags finished third in the standings on the men’s side with 65.5 points. Pomona-Pitzer won the men’s All-Sports Trophy.
Back-And-Forth Battle Favors Regals in SCIAC Semifinals

In a rematch of last Saturday's regular season finale, the Cal Lutheran Regals edged the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's water polo team, 6-5 in a back-and-forth SCIAC Semifinal. The Athenas had a chance with seven second left on the clock to tie the game, but Roxy Kiessling's (CMC) shot under heavy pressure missed just outside the right post and the Regals held on to advance to the SCIAC Championship Game on Sunday.
Gaffney, Kiessling, and Aldrete Named All-SCIAC

On Thursday morning the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) released their All-Conference team. Among the student-athletes listed were a trio of Athenas. Jessica Gaffney (CMC) and Roxy Kiessling (CMC) were named First Team while sophomore Aracelia Aldrete (CMC) was named Second Team.
Athenas Begin SCIAC Tourney Friday at Cal Lutheran

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's water polo team ended the 2018 regular season with a thrilling, 11-10 victory over Cal Lutheran last Saturday. The CMS vs. Cal Lutheran match-up will be replayed this Friday in the SCIAC Semifinals as the No. 3 Athenas head on the road to take on the No. 2 Regals at 4:00 p.m. The winner of the CMS-Cal Lutheran match will square off with the winner of the other SCIAC Semifinal, No. 4 Whittier at No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer, in the SCIAC Final on Sunday. The Athenas and Regals split their first two meetings this season. As mentioned, CMS earned an 11-10 victory last weekend and Cal Lutheran picked-up an 8-4 win earlier in the year on Mar. 24 in Axelrood Pool.
Kiessling Nets Seven as Athenas Edge Regals

With the third seed in the SCIAC Tournament already solidified the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team wrapped up the regular season with a trip to Cal Lutheran on Saturday morning. The Athenas earned a hard-fought 11-10 victory against the Regals, thanks in large part to seven goals from senior Roxy Kiessling (CMC). After being held scoreless in the first period, Kiessling scored three goals in the second period and netted a pair of goals in both the third and fourth to finish the day with seven goals on nine shots.
Athenas Take Down Redlands on Senior Day

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team celebrated their seniors on Saturday prior to their final home game of the season. Following the festivities, the Athenas used a big four-goal first quarter to push them past the visiting Redlands Bulldogs in a 10-7 victory. Jessica Gaffney (CMC) led the Athenas offensively with three goals and fellow senior Roxy Kiessling (CMC) had two.
Early Lead Propels Athenas Past Tigers on the Road

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team breezed past the Occidental College Tigers in a midweek matchup on Wednesday, earning their 16th victory of the season by a score of 9-1. The Athenas scored seven times in the first half as part of an 8-0 run. They held the Tigers to just one goal in the contest.
CMS Defeats Leopards behind Gaffney's Four Goals

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's water polo team earned their eighth conference win of the season on Saturday after edging La Verne 11-7. The Athenas scored three goals in each of the final three quarters and were led by a strong four-goal performance from Jessica Gaffney (CMC). Aracelia Aldrete (CMC), Roxy Kiessling (CMC), and Amelia Ayala (CMC) each scored twice.
Strong Second Half Pushes Sagehens Past Athenas

After an evenly played first half, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team fell to the SCIAC leaders in Pomona-Pitzer 11-5. Tied 2-2 at the end of the first half, the Sagehens scored nine in the second half to come away with their eighth SCIAC win of the season.
Women's Water Polo Pastes Caltech in 17-3 Victory

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team cruised to a 17-3 victory over the Caltech Beavers on Saturday morning. Nine different Athenas scored in the victory with Jessica Gaffney (CMC), Anna Fry (HMC), and Chandlyr Denaro (CMC) leading the offense for CMS by each scoring at least three goals. The Athenas outshot the Beavers 28-16 in the victory.

The Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' women's water polo earned their sixth SCIAC win of the season with an 11-7 victory over the Whittier Poets on Wednesday night. After falling in an early hole, CMS came from behind in the second quarter and were able to maintain the lead for the rest of the game. Jessica Gaffney (CMC) led the charge with five goals in the game.
Hawks and Bears, Too Strong for CMS in Axelrood Pool

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's water polo team dropped both of their matches on Saturday against stiff competition. In the morning match, the Athenas fell to No. 13 Hartwick College 16-7, before dropping their second game of the day to Brown University by an 11-7 final. Amelia Ayala (CMC), Roxy Kiessling (CMC), and Aracelia Aldrete (CMC) each registered three goals on the day to lead the Athenas' offense.
