Kiessling and Gaffney represent CMS on All-SCIAC teams

PASADENA, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's water polo team landed two athletes on the All-Conference teams for the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) as announced on April 29. Sophomores Roxy Kiessling (CMC) and Jessica Gaffney (CMC) represent the Athenas on the first and second teams.

Kiessling led CMS and the SCIAC with 38 goals during conference play. During the tournament, she had 13 goals and was a standout in the final two wins over Occidental and Cal Lutheran for the Athenas. Overall, Kiessling scored 64 goals, had 44 assists, 56 earned exclusions and 38 steals while in the pool the most minutes for CMS. This is her first all-conference honor.

Gaffney landed at 19th in SCIAC scoring with 15 goals in conference play. Overall, she came in at 15th with 37 goals. Gaffney led the team in assists with 47 and was second for the Athenas in earned exclusions (51) and steals (43). Gaffney scored four goals on three occasions this season: 9-5 win over Concordia, 13-5 loss to Iona and 13-11 victory over Virginia Military Institute.This is her second consecutive year earning an all-conference award.

Also, senior Nicole Orozco (CMC) was named to the All-SCIAC Sportsmanship Team.
