It has been another outstanding year for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics. On the largest scale, CMS broke into the top-10 in the Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup. During the 2015-16 year, many of the CMS student athletes were honored for their athletic and academic achievements.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was represented by 201 student-athletes on the 2015-16 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Academic Team. The SCIAC recognizes student-athletes who have achieved at least a cumulative 3.4 grade point average and completed one full year at their institution.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics would like to congratulate the 17 recent graduates who have been added to the CMS Wall of Fame and the 129 student-athletes who have made the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2015-16 academic year.

The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced the teams and individuals earning All-Academic awards with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps coming at fourth nationally in GPA. Eleven Athenas recorded GPA of 3.2 or higher and were honored with the 504 total women’s water polo student-athletes for academic excellence.

CMS won 11 SCIAC championships, had 13 teams participate in the NCAA Championships, finished tied for 10th in the Directors' Cup Standings and tallied four national championships (3 individual and 1 team). Take a look back at the 2015-16 year in this highlight video.

The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced the selection of the organization's 2016 Women's Division III All-America Team on June 1 naming sophomore Roxy Kiessling (CMC) to the first team and sophomore Jessica Gaffney (CMC) as an Honorable Mention. The All-America Teams are comprised of 30 student-athletes featuring players from 13 institutions. The SCIAC made up 21 of those selections from eight of the nine programs.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team landed two athletes on the All-Conference teams for the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) as announced on April 29. Sophomores Roxy Kiessling (CMC) and Jessica Gaffney (CMC) represent the Athenas on the first and second teams.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team ended its season on a two game win streak in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (SCIAC) Championships on Sunday afternoon. The Athenas beat Cal Lutheran 9-7 to take home fifth place in the Championships.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team won the fourth quarter while mounting a comeback, but ultimately lost to Whittier, 10-7. Prior to the game, head coach Greg Lonzo and the team honored senior Nicole Orozco (CMC) in her final home game of her career.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team notched two wins on Saturday beating Caltech on the road 9-6 and then closing out the day with a tight win over Occidental, 7-6. With the wins, CMS improves to 6-15 overall and 3-2 in SCIAC play, good for a tie of fourth place.
