Kerkhof, Stein and Werner represent CMS on AVCA All-Region Team
CLAREMONT, Calif. – Senior Nicole Kerkhof (CMC) and juniors Shelbi Stein (CMC) and Mikena Werner (SC) were named to the All-West Region Team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Nov. 10.
Earning her second All-Region nod, Kerkhof leads the team in kills with 283 total, and averages 3.45 per set. Additionally, she averages 3.66 digs per set, second highest to Werner. In the SCIAC Tournament game vs. La Verne, Kerkhof recorded her 16 game this season with double-digit kills and digs.
Werner is honored with her first All-Region award in 2016. As the SCIAC's leader in total digs and digs per set, Werner's tireless passing sets up the dominant Athena offense. Her 125 assists this season aid in CMS' No. 2 ranking with 13.76 assists per set.
Stein also earns her first All-Region honor after the First Team All-SCIAC award just last week. Stein owns a .304 hitting percentage on the season but has hit over .400 in three of her last six games. Against ULV in the conference semifinal, she put down 18 kills for an outstanding .457 average.
