Athenas handle Redlands in three sets

CLAREMONT, Calif. – To start the second set, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's volleyball team rattled off 14 straight points and eventually won the set and match against Redlands on Saturday night at the Linde Activities Center. The final score was 25-16, 25-11, 25-19.

Those 14 points were served by freshman Shelbi Stein who had three service aces and six kills on the night. The Athenas were led by junior Audrey Breitwieser and sophomore Nicole Kerkhof, each with eight kills on the night.

Twelve CMS players played in the three sets and the team recorded a .298 kill percentage.

The Bulldogs rallied in the third set and had an 8-4 lead before the Athenas recaptured the lead and never gave it back. For Redlands, Marisa Gile led the team with nine kills.

CMS (15-4, 6-1 SCIAC) is back in action at Chapman (4-12, 3-4 SCIAC) on Oct. 7.
