Straight sets win for Athenas

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's volleyball team easily handled Caltech in the Friday night SCIAC opener in the Linde Activities Center. The Athenas almost kept the Beavers from scoring double digit points in each game winning 3-0 (25-6, 25-5, 25-12).

Freshman Crystal Anderson was the evening's star recording ten kills in just 12 attempts with no errors. Quinn Morrison was right behind her with nine kills.

From the service line, Shelbi Stein had six aces while Mikena Werner added five of her own.

CMS won twelve points in a row to begin the second set on Arianna Sifuentes' serve. In that game, Caltech only scored five points, two of which were on service errors by the Athenas.

For the beavers, Catherine Jamshidi led with six kills and played in all three sets.

The Athenas (10-3) travel to La Verne to continue SCIAC competition on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 6 p.m.
