Emily Clarke Jumps to No. 12 in 3000 Meters in NCAA Division III Indoor Rankings

BOSTON, Mass. - Emily Clarke attended the Boston University Last Chance Meet on Sunday, looking to obtain a time in the 3000 meters that could qualify her for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in two weeks, and she came through with a strong performance that could earn her an invitation once the final results are tallied.

Clarke ran a 9:46.47 on the banked track at Boston University, which ranks her No. 12 in the nation when adjusted for the Division III performance list to a 9:51.52. She is one of only 20 athletes in the country who have come in under 10 minutes this season, and her No. 12 ranking puts her in a strong position to be among the invitees when the bids are announced later this week.

Clarke has already had a strong senior season, helping the CMS women's cross country team to a second-place finish at the NCAA Division III Championships in November. She has continued on to track season and has put in some strong performances, including breaking 10 minutes outdoors at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet on Feb. 19 (9:56.97).

Clarke and the other Athenas with results from indoor competition will await the official invitations this week to see if they will earn an invitation to the NCA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Winston Salem, North Carolina on March 11-12.
