Clarke-Bloss-Bitetti Finish 1-2-3 in 3000 Meters for CMS Women's Track and Field

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team dominated the 3000 meters with a 1-2-3 finish in its first meet of the outdoor track and field season at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet at Strehle Track on Saturday.

Emily Clarke finished as the champion of the 3000 in a time of 9:56.97, while Meredith Bloss was just under 10 minutes as well in 9:59.01. Natalie Bitetti was third in 10:05.20, while Riley Harmon came in fifth in 10:17.74 and Chloe Taylor was in the top 10 as well in 10:31.07. 

CMS placed three runners in the top seven in the 800 meters, with Laura Zimmer coming in third in 2:19.18, followed by Megan Maley in fourth in 2:21.75 and Camille Forte in seventh in 2:26.62. 

Caroline DelVecchio was the fourth-place finisher in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.24, while leading all collegiate competitors. The CMS 4x400 relay of Lipsky, Zimmer, DelVecchio and Nanez was second behind Biola in 4:09.23. 

Mikaela Lipsky (1:00.94) and Claudia Nanez (1:01.08) came in fifth and sixth place, respectively in the 400, while Nanez also came in 11th (out of 47 runners) in the 200 meters in 26.57 seconds. 

Brooke Simon had another strong effort in the pole vault to come in third place with a clearance of 12'5.5" to place behind only two vaulters from Azusa Pacific. In the throws, Amanda Gallop came in third place in the hammer throw and ninth in the javelin, while Carly Kirsch was fifth in the discus and sixth in the shot put.

CMS will be back in action next Saturday when it hosts the Rossi Relays, beginning at 11 a.m.
