CMS Student-Athletes Create 'Hack for Black Lives' Hackathon Feb. 19-21

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Harvey Mudd student-athletes Natasha Crepeau, Kira Favakeh, Ben Hinthorne and Camille Simon have joined forces to create "Hack for Black Lives" a Hackathon open to students of all backgrounds from the 7C community, which will be held virtually from Feb. 19-21.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Amanda Mell and first-year Caroline DelVecchio captured All-Academic honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced today.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Amanda Mell earned Division III Indoor Women's Track and Field All-America honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization officially announced today.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Amanda Mell was mere days away from traveling to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships to compete in the triple jump when collegiate athletics were suddenly suspended in March. It would have been her second NCAA trip after qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships last May, a feat which she hoped to duplicate in outdoor season this year, but like all athletes in the Class of 2020, her personal goals were derailed by the coronavirus pandemic.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field senior class won SCIAC Championships in all three of their completed seasons, after edging Redlands by three points a year ago for their third in a row (and the program's fifth in a row). The Athena Class of 2020 was hoping to make it four-for-four, before their final season was cut short by the suspension of spring sports. John Goldhammer Announces Retirement after 36 Years with CMS

CLAREMONT, Calif. - After 36 seasons as the head coach of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps cross country programs, as well as 26 years as the head coach and 10 years as an assistant coach of the CMS track and field programs, John Goldhammer has announced his retirement, effective at the end of the academic year.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Amanda Mell had one of the top 20 triple jumps in the country in NCAA Division III indoor track and field competition this winter, and in doing so, earned an invitation to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend in Winston Salem, N.C.

WHITTIER, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team finished in first place in nine different events in its first SCIAC event of the spring season, a five-team multi-dual hosted by Whittier that also included Caltech, Chapman and Occidental.

ATLANTA, Ga. - Former Claremont-Mudd-Scripps distance runner Sara Mostatabi earned her way into the U.S. Olympic Marathon Team Trials with a qualifying run last year, and gave an impressive showing this weekend, finishing in the top 100 (91st) out of 390 of the top Marathon runners in the country.

BOISE, Idaho - First-year Caroline DelVecchio qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles by two-hundredths of a second, and five Athenas finished in the top 11 in the long jump to highlight the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps performance on the first day of the Jacksons/Nike Boise Indoor Invitational on Friday.
