Vaiva Palunas named USTFCCCA Athlete of the Week
NEW ORLEANS, Louis. – Senior Vaiva Palunas (SC) has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Athlete of the Week after her outstanding performance at the Sacramento State Hornet Invitational this past weekend. Competing against top-level athletes from NCAA Division I, II, and III programs, Palunas stood out with her versatility by posting high marks on all three throwing events.
The senior thrower is ranked No. 1 amongst all Div. III athletes in the shot put and discus throw and ranked No. 2 in the hammer throw. She threw the discus 44.45 meters (145-1) at her most recent meet and sailed the hammer 55.87m (183-4), becoming the top finishing Div. III thrower in each field.
