CMS Women's Tennis Shuts Out Cal Lutheran for Tenth Straight Win

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The third-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team picked up its tenth win in a row by cruising to a 9-0 win over Cal Lutheran on Saturday morning at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

With the win, CMS now stands at 15-2 overall and 2-0 in league play, and remains undefeated outdoors this season (14-0), as both defeats came at the ITA Indoor Nationals. 

The Athenas quickly swept the doubles courts, as Devon Wolfe and Crystal Juan took an 8-0 win at No. 3, Sena Selby and Sarah Bahsoun earned an 8-1 win at No. 2, and Gabby Lee and Sydney Lee outlasted their opponents 8-4 at No. 1 to give CMS a 3-0 lead going into singles. 

Audrey Yoon played at the No. 1 line in singles and battled Mari Bufkin to a 6-3, 6-3 win, while none of the other five courts saw a set go deeper than 6-2 as the Athenas showcased their team depth.

Alisha Chulani had the first singles win at No. 4, where she rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win. Gabby Lee picked up the clinch at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-2 win to give the Athenas a 5-0 win.

Bahsoun followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3, and Ella Brissett took a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 to extend the lead to 7-0. Selby then closed out a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5, before Yoon finished off the match at No. 1. 

CMS will be back in action on Friday for two home matches, when it takes on San Diego Christian at 10:30 in the morning, followed by a 3 p.m. league match with Whittier.
