CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team will have five quarterfinalists at the ITA West Regional quarterfinals on Saturday, after Nikolina Batoshvili, Sarah Bahsoun, Gabby Lee, Devon Wolfe, and Sena Selby all advanced through the first two rounds on Friday afternoon.

Lee had the most dramatic run on Friday, winning a pair of tiebreakers in each of her first two matches. Her opening round third-set battle with Marissa Markey went well past the regulation 10 points, before Lee came away with a 1-6, 6-4, 14-12 win. She then dropped the first set to Kiana Brady, before bouncing back for a 5-7, 6-2, 10-3 win to move on to the quarterfinals. Lee will face Bahsoun, who won her first match 6-2, 7-6 and then went through to the quarterfinals after her second round opponent withdrew with an injury.

Wolfe also had a tight battle to move on to the quarterfinal round. After picking up a quick win in her opening match (6-2, 6-0), Wolfe battled eighth-seeded Goldie La, and earned a quick first set win before ending up in a third-set tiebreaker and coming away with a 6-0, 2-6, 12-10 victory. Selby (6-2, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-4) and Batoshvili (6-4, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-4) both had straight set wins to move on to the quarterfinals.

In doubles, CMS sent six teams through to the Round of 16 after one round was played on Friday. Trinity Zhang and Arushi Malik had a tight win, taking an 8-7 (7-5) victory over the eighth seed.
