CMS Women's Tennis Splits in Doubles on Final Day of Fall Invitational

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team played the final day of its three-day Fall Invitational on Sunday, which featured the Athenas and co-host Pomona-Pitzer playing two sets of six doubles matches against each other at both facilities, with the teams ending up splitting with six wins apiece.

Nikolina Batoshvili and Alisha Chulani won 8-5 at Pomona-Pitzer for each of their second wins on the day. Batoshvili paired with Sarah Bahsoun for an 8-3 win at CMS, while Chulani paired with Sydney Lee for an 8-1 win. 

Lee also won both of her doubles matches, pairing with Devon Wolfe for an 8-3 win at Pomona-Pitzer. Ella Brissett was also 2-0, pairing with Sena Selby for a tiebreaker win at CMS (7-5 in the tiebreaker) and then playing with Audrey Yoon at Pomona-Pitzer and earning a 6-3 win. 

CMS mixed its doubles partners up at each site, while Pomona-Pitzer used the same six doubles pairs, as the two programs used different strategies in their first action in 18 months. 

CMS and Pomona-Pitzer will both return to action in two weeks, when the ITA West Regionals come to Claremont from Oct. 1-3. Pomona-Pitzer will serve as the host institution, but matches will be played at both sites over the course of the three-day event.
