Sarah Bahsoun Named SCIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Freshman Sarah Bahsoun was named the SCIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for matches through Sunday, March 24, the league office announced today.

Bahsoun earned the honor after going undefeated on the week (3-0 in singles, 3-0 in doubles) to help CMS improve to 13-1 on the season. She was dominant in every one her matches, all of which came against top 20 teams, winning her three singles matches by a combined score of 36-5, and her three doubles matches by a combined 24-4.

Bahsoun began her week with a 6-3, 6-0 win against No. 8 Tufts on Tuesday and then came back the next day for a 6-0, 6-0 shutout win over No. 18 Sewanee. She then ended the week with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win against No. 5 Williams, helping CMS to a 9-0 shutout win in a rematch of last year's NCAA semifinals.

In doubles, Bahsoun teamed with junior Nicole Tan for an equally dominant week, winning 8-1 against Tufts, 8-0 against Sewanee and 8-3 over Williams. She improves her record for her freshman season to 12-3 in singles and 13-2 in doubles.

CMS will be back in action this weekend for two more big home matches against top 10 teams, taking on Chicago on Friday at 10 a.m. and Middlebury on Saturday at 12 p.m.
