No. 3 Women's Tennis Takes Care of Panthers on Friday Evening

ORANGE, Calif. – The No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team swept the Chapman Panthers on Friday afternoon by a 9-0 final. The Athenas remain perfect on the season, moving to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in SCIAC play.

The Athenas swept through doubles play with Catherine Allen (SC) and Caroline Cox (CMC) earning the first point for the Athenas at No. 1 doubles. The duo was the first off the court with an 8-3 victory at the top spot. At No. 2 doubles, Juliette Martin (HMC) and Lauren Yamagami (CMC) teamed up for an 8-3 victory and at No. 3 doubles, Anastasia Bryan-Ajania (SC) and Jessie Cruz (CMC) combined for an 8-5 win to complete the doubles sweep.

CMS was even more dominate in singles play with the Athenas dropping just seven games across the six matches. No Athena lost more than two games in their straight-set victory. Rebecca Berger (CMC) was perfect in her No. 5 singles match. She won 6-0, 6-0 and clinched the match for CMS with the Athenas' fifth point of the match.

At No. 6 singles, Madison Shea (CMC) earned a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win to close out the day for CMS.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Athenas, as CMS hosts Occidental at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. The day continues with a match against visiting Brandeis at 2:00 p.m.
