TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced it's All-American winners on June 8 after the National Championships, naming four members of the No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team onto the list. The All-American awards were given based on the final individual rankings, NCAA tournament seeding, or whether the athlete won the first round in the tournament. Nicole Tan (CMC '20) and Catherine Allen (SC '20) were handed the All-American honors for singles. The ITA also honored Tan/ Lindsay Brown (CMC '18) and Allen/ Katie Kuosman (CMC '17) onto the All-American team for doubles.
Tan finished the season ranked 12th in the nation for singles after a successful NCAA Tournament debut. The first year not only helped CMS to the semifinal, but she also won her first round match in the singles tournament. She paired with Brown in the doubles tournament and climbed their way to the national title match, where they finished in second place. The two Athenas finished their season ranked second in the nation among all Division III doubles pairs.
Allen ended her singles tournament run in the quarterfinals and was ranked 13th in the country at the conclusion of the season. She and Kuosman finished their doubles run in the quarterfinals, and were listed ninth in the nation in the final rankings. After earning her last three All-American doubles honors alongside alumnae Caroline Ward, this marks Kuosman's first time receiving this honor with a new partner. Kuosman finishes her Athenas career with four All-American honors.
