Brown and Tan wrap up season in second at NCAAs

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Lindsay Brown (CMC '18) and Nicole Tan (CMC '20) continued the tradition of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's doubles teams competing for a national title on Saturday afternoon. The pair won their semifinal game against Emory earlier in the day and then ended the season as the National Runner-Up team with the loss to Wesleyan in the final.

In their first match, Brown and Tan defeated Emory's Bridget Harding and Katarina Su for the second time this week. In the team competition, CMS came away with the 8-5 victory and then won 6-4, 7-5 today, advancing them to the title match.

After a quick turnaround, the Athenas faced top-seeded Eudice Chong and Victoria Yu of Wesleyan. The Wesleyan pair had earned wins in dominating straight set performances in the past three days and was led by Chong, who also won the women's singles title in the morning. Brown and Tan went down 6-2 in the first set and rallied for one more game in the second, but ultimately fell in the doubles championship match 6-2, 6-3.

The Athena pair finished their impressive season having only lost three times, twice to Division III opponents.
