Four Athenas named ITA Scholar Athletes as CMS named All-Academic Team

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) listed the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team into the 2017 All-Academic Team after the Athenas met the criteria of having a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or higher.
Singapore finishes 7th, Tan battles former NCAA Runner-Up in 3-set loss

After avoiding relegation with a second place finish in Pool C, Nicole Tan (CMC ’20) and the Singapore National Team looked to finish their Fed Cup run on a high note. However, the team fell 3-0 against Pacific Oceania in the 5th to 8th Playoff on Friday morning and concluded their Fed Cup run in 7th place.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced it’s All-American winners on June 8 after the National Championships, naming four members of the No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team on the list.

During the 2016-17 academic year, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps athletic department won 14 hard-fought regular season championships in the Southern Californian Intercollegiate and its athletes were honored with many outstanding awards.

Tan, Parodi and Schwarz earn big ITA honors

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Nicole Tan (CMC '20) and Nikolai Parodi (CMC '20) each wrapped up their first season playing collegiate tennis as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Female and Male Rookie of the Year, respectively. Additionally, the Athenas' head coach, Dave Schwarz, was named the women's Wilson/ITA Coach of the Year.
Brown and Tan wrap up season in second at NCAAs

Lindsay Brown (CMC '18) and Nicole Tan (CMC '20) continued the tradition of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's doubles teams competing for a national title on Saturday afternoon. The pair won their semifinal game against Emory earlier in the day and then ended the season as the National Runner-Up team with the loss to Wesleyan in the final.

In the second day of the individual competition at the NCAA Tennis Championships, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team competed in quarterfinals in both doubles and singles play. The doubles team of Nicole Tan (CMC ’20) and Lindsay Brown (CMC ’18) won a straight set match to advance into the semifinals tomorrow morning.
First round wins for all Athenas in individual draws

Both doubles teams representing the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals in the NCAA Individuals competition. Additionally, Catherine Allen (SC ’20) and Nicole Tan (CMC ’20) each won their first round singles matches with Allen continuing into the quarterfinals.

Despite delivering a hard-fought battle, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team saw its NCAA Tournament run end at the Final Four after a 5-1 defeat to No. 3 Emory.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team got off to a rolling start in the NCAA Championship at Chattanooga, Tennessee, defeating No. 11 Washington University in St. Louis 5-1 in the quarterfinals.

The field is set for the Elite Eight of the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Tennis Team Championships. Team competition will span May 22-24 with the championship matches at 11 a.m. PDT for the men and 7 p.m. PDT for the women on Wednesday, May 24.
