Four Athenas earn All-SCIAC honors; Ward SCIAC Athlete of the Year

PASADENA, Calif. – Four members of the SCIAC Co-Champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team earned All-SCIAC honors with senior Caroline Ward (CMC) being named SCIAC Athlete of the Year. Junior Katie Kuosman (CMC) and sophomore Lindsay Brown (CMC) were selected to the All-SCIAC First Team while sophomore Kyla Scott (HMC) earned the All-SCIAC Second Team distinction.

Ward won SCIAC Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row after playing number one singles and doubles for the entire 2016 campaign. She compiled a 16-8 record in singles and 22-4 record in doubles against DIII opponents. Her frequent doubles partner, Kuosman earned first team honors for the second-straight year while also playing number two singles.

After being selected to the second team last year, Brown produced a solid season in which she primarily played number two doubles and number three singles. Scott has now earned the second team distinction in her first two years as an Athena.

CMS won its 18th SCIAC Championship and put together a 19-4 overall, 10-1 SCIAC record through conference play. 2016 marks the sixth straight year the Athenas have captured the conference title.
