    End of the Year Awards for CMS It has been another outstanding year for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics. On the largest scale, CMS broke into the top-10 in the Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup. During the 2015-16 year, many of the CMS student athletes were honored for their athletic and academic achievements.

    SCIAC honors All-Academic Team for 2015-16 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was represented by 201 student-athletes on the 2015-16 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Academic Team. The SCIAC recognizes student-athletes who have achieved at least a cumulative 3.4 grade point average and completed one full year at their institution.

    Thomson named West Region Assistant Coach of the Year The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2016 Division III regional and national award winners on Wednesday, May 25, at the 2016 Division III NCAA Tennis Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis assistant coach Andrew Thomson was named the West Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

    Athenas’ doubles team moves on to quarterfinals at NCAA Championships The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis No. 1 duo of senior Caroline Ward (CMC) and junior Katie Kuosman (CMC) have advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championships doubles competition thanks to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Meg Chiumento and Lauren Hawley of Denison University in the Round of 16 on May 26.

    Shutout victory for Athenas in round two of NCAA Regionals The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team cruised to a 5-0 victory in the second round of the NCAA Regionals over Trinity University. It was the first match of the NCAA tournament for the 20-4 (10-1 SCIAC) Athenas who are now one win away from advancing to the NCAA Team Championships Quarterfinals for the sixth straight year.

Nevertheless, the fourth-ranked and second-seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team got in its match and defeated No. 7 seed Caltech 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the SCIAC Championships on May 6 at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.
