Ward named Athlete of the Year; five Athenas honored with All-SCIAC selections
PASADENA, Calif. – Junior Caroline Ward (CMC) was named Athlete of the Year by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) along with four teammates in the all-conference selection release on May 18. Head coach David Schwarz was selected as the Coach of the Year as he led CMS to an undefeated SCIAC season in his first year at the helm of the Athenas' program.
This is Ward's third All-SCIAC selection after having been named to the First Team her freshman and sophomore years.
Sophomore Katie Kuosman (CMC) and senior Sarah Kukino (CMC) are this year's First Team selections. Both Kuosman and Kukino earned the Newcomer of the Year honor their respective freshmen years (2014 & 2012) and have been on the All-SCIAC team each year since. This is Kukino's first-First Team selection.
Freshmen Lindsay Brown (CMC) and Kyla Scott (HMC) were both named to the SCIAC's Second Team in their first collegiate season.
In the 2015 season, CMS won their 17th SCIAC title, fourth in a row, in Schwarz's first season as head coach. Before coming to CMS, Schwarz was the men's coach at Middlebury where he led the team to two national championships in 2004 & 2010.
