Of the ten women competing in the singles draw, six are new faces on the Athena tennis team. The six freshmen include Madeline Ferry, Bria Smith, Samantha Nuno, Lauren Livingston, Lindsay Brown and Kayla Scott who is playing as a No. 9 seed.

Sanjana Sankaran joins fellow sophomore Katie Kousman in the singles draw. Kousman and doubles partner junior Caroline Ward are the No. 3 and No. 2 seeds respectively in the field and have each received byes for the first round.  Last year at the ITA Regionals, Kousman placed second, losing only in the final match against the 2014 No. 1 seed Andrea Madrigal.

Senior Sarah Kukino rounds out the Athenas' singles players and is seeded No. 8 in the tournament.

Women's Doubles

Ward and Kousman sit as the No. 1 doubles pair after last year's second place finish at the NCAA Division III Tennis Championships. In the 2013 ITA Regionals, both Ward and Kousman competed in the doubles draw, but not as partners. Kousman paired up with Kukino and made it to the quarter finals. Ward and former teammate Crystal Lim advanced to the finals and finished in second place.

For the rest of the pairings, this will be their first time competing with those partners. Livingston and Nuno will face Sophia Duong and Lauren Ross from Chapman in the Round of 32. Kukino and Scott match up with Ruthie Kaplan and Terrianne Hamada from Whittier. Brown and Smith will compete against Andrea Hammer and Madeline Saunders, the No. 5 seed also from Chapman. Finally, Sankaran and Ferry play Claire Bohoskey and Tyler Garant of Redlands.
