Kuosman and Ward get NCAA doubles and singles invites

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Committee announced on May 7 the individuals who will compete in the singles and doubles competitions of the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships. The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team is represented by freshman Katie Kuosman and sophomore Caroline Ward.

The duo was selected to compete as a doubles team in the field of 16. Ward also made the list of 32 individuals chosen to compete in the singles championships, while Kuosman represents the West Region as a singles alternate. Any singles player that scratches from the tournament will be replaced by the next individual from their region. The draw for the individual championship will be done by the women's tennis committee and will be released on the last day of the team championship.

This is the second year in a row that Ward has participated in the doubles championships. In 2013, Ward and partner Kristin Lim made it all the way to the finals before losing in a third-set tiebreaker.

CMS is hosting the 2014 NCAA Division III Tennis Championships in Claremont at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. Team competition runs from May 19-21, while singles and doubles play goes from May 22-24. Draws for the singles/doubles championships will be released on the last day of the team championships.
