Athenas foiled by No. 2 Williams

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team lost a hard fought match to No. 2 Williams 6-3 Wednesday afternoon at Biszantz Family Tennis Center. The Athenas took two of the three doubles matches but then only won one singles match.

The No. 1 doubles team of freshman Katie Kuosman and sophomore Caroline Ward took their match with a dominant score of 8-1. Senior Crystal Lim and sophomore Yvonne Likomanova won their doubles match in a tighter 8-5 victory.

In the singles matches, Lim (No. 5) was the only one to pull out the win. After dropping the first set, Lim came back to win the second 6-4 and ultimately the tie-break 10-4.

Results

The Athenas are 11-7 overall and remain undefeated 4-0 in SCIAC. CMS travels to Cal Lutheran this Friday (4/4) and across the street to Pomona-Pitzer (4/5) to continue conference play.
