Augusta Lewis Finishes as NCAA Runner-Up in 400 IM, Ava Sealander Earns All-America Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Augusta Lewis had her second top-three finish at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday, earning second place in the 400 IM by eclipsing her own school record with a 4:18.06 on Thursday at the IU Natatorium.

Lewis also finished in third place yesterday in the 200 IM, and she will try to earn her third individual first-team All-America honor tomorrow when she competes in the 200-yard breaststroke. Her 4:18.06 passed her own school record by six-tenths of a second, which she set last month when she won her third SCIAC title in a row.

Sealander also captured first-team All-America honors on Thursday by qualifying for the finals of the 100-yard butterfly. They earned sixth place overall, while also moving into second place in program history with a 54.92.

Ella Blake trimmed more time off of her program record in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in 10th place with a 1:50.30 to earn honorable mention All-America honors, passing her old previous mark of 1:51.06 set at the SCIAC Championships. Izzy Doud earned CMS some individual points as well, coming in 13th place in the one-meter dive.

The 400-yard medley relay team of Jameson Mitchum, Lewis, Sealander and Natalia Orbach-Mandel capped off the day with a top-10 finish, earning 10th place with a 3:46.89 and taking home honorable mention All-America honors. 

CMS now stands in ninth place in the team standings with 95 points. Kenyon leads with 248, holding a slight edge over Denison (245.5) and Emory (215). 

The third day of the SCIAC Championships will take place tomorrow, with the 200-yard butterfly, the 100-yard backstroke, the 100-yard breaststroke and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
