Augusta Lewis Earns SCIAC Women's Swimmer of the Week Honor

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Claremont-Mudd-Scripps enior Augusta Lewis earned the SCIAC Women's Swimmer of the Week for events through Sunday, Jan. 9, the league office announced today.

Lewis and the Athenas challenged themselves this weekend against Division I California Baptist before dropping a distance meet by just 50 points, and Lewis continued her stellar senior season in the process. She won both of her individual events, winning the 300-yard breaststroke by four seconds in 3:40.55, before taking first place in the 300-yard IM with a time of 3:17.26, winning by just over two seconds.

In the last four meets, Lewis has won 11 of the 12 individual events she has entered, coming up short only to her own teammate in a close loss in the 200-yard freestyle to CMS-record holder Ella Blake. Lewis won all four of her individual races against Pomona-Pitzer, and went 3-0 in a home meet against Occidental, adding a top-10 performance in the 200-yard butterfly.

Lewis has won five SCIAC Championships in her first two seasons, sweeping the 200-yard and 400-yard IM as both a first-year and a sophomore, and adding a 200-yard breaststroke title as a sophomore as well. She has twice been named the SCIAC Swimmer of the Year, taking both the Swimmer of the Year and Newcomer of the Year in 2019.

CMS will be back in action on Saturday for its final home meet of the 2021-22 season, taking on Redlands at 10 a.m. at Axelrood Pool.
