No. 11 CMS Women's Swimming and Diving Sweeps Tri-Meet With Caltech, Chapman

ORANGE, Calif. - The 11th-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's swimming and diving team won 14 of 16 events as it earned a pair of dual wins over Chapman and Caltech in a tri-meet held at Chapman on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, CMS improves to 3-1 on the season and 3-0 in the SCIAC, with the only defeat coming to Division I UC San Diego in its season opener on Oct. 23. 

Ella Blake (200 free, 500 free), Augusta Lewis (100 free, 100 fly) and Kelly Prawira (200 breast, 200 IM) each won two individual events on the day for CMS. 

CMS came out of the chute with a strong performance in the 200 medley relay, earning the top two finishing teams, with Jade Saunders, Rachel Wander, Katelyn Dang and Ava Sealander earning first place in 1:49.92. The first individual event saw similar Athena dominance with Gracey Hiebert, Alex Towers and Mischa Brown finishing 1-2-3 in the 1000-yard freestyle, with Hiebert winning in 10:54.14. 

Blake and Lewis finished 1-2 in the 200-yard freestyle, with Blake earning the win in 1:55.76. After Caltech took first in the 100 back, Wander won the 100 breast for the Athenas in 1:08.21, with teammate Caroline Sundal second, and Dang took the 200 fly in 2:07.87, with teammates Allyson Yao in second and Sealander in third.

After Caltech ended the first session with a win in the 50 free, Lewis took the 100 free to start the second session in 54.15, just beating out Natalia Orbach-Mandel in second with a 54.20, while Dang came in third. Anna Werts earned the win in the 200 back in 2:08.72, and Kelly Prawira led a 1-5 finish in the 200 breast in 2:20.24, followed by Wander, Sealander, Lexi Lee and Yao. 

Blake added her second win in the 500 free in 5:12.25, with Hiebert and Leila El Masri making it another 1-2-3 Athena finish. Lewis won her second event in the 100 fly in 58.25, edging out the second-place finisher from Chapman in .15, and then Prawira earned her second win in the 200 IM in 2:12.81, with Lee in second. 

CMS finished off the meet as it started it, with the top two relay teams, as Blake, Emily Warner, Sealander and Orbach-Mandel won the 200 free relay in 1:38.68, edging out Dang, Lewis, Yao and Saunders in second. 

Emma Ng Pack swept the diving events for the second straight weekend, taking the three-meter with 289.90 points over Izzy Doud in second wtih 272.80, and then winning the one-meter with 280.05 points. 

The Athenas will have a brief break before closing out the first semester with its annual two-day meet with Pomona-Pitzer, which will take place Dec. 3-4 at Axelrood Pool.
