Head Coach Charlie Griffiths Authors Cover Article for November ASCA Newsletter

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Head Swimming and Diving Coach Charlie Griffiths wrote the cover article for the latest issue of the American Swimming Coaches Association Newsletter.

Griffiths' article was titled "Together ... Apart" and dealt with the issues of coaching during the COVID-19 pandemic, which canceled the 2020 NCAA Division III Championships in the short term and brought about major challenges in training and managing workouts and team meetings in the long term.

When last in action, Griffiths led both the women's and men's swimming and diving teams to SCIAC titles at the 2020 league championships, with 18 CMS athletes qualifying for the NCAA Championships, earning All-America honors after the event was canceled at the onset of the pandemic. In his 19 years at the helm, he has guided the Athenas to 15 SCIAC Championships, and the Stags to 11. His all-time dual meet record for both programs is 319-88, including 264-14 in the SCIAC.
