Makenna Parkinson Earns Fourth in Three-Meter on First Day of SCIAC Diving Championships

CLAREMONT, Calif. - A trio of first-year divers qualified for the finals in the three-meter dive for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's swimming and diving team on Saturday, with Makenna Parkinson earning the highest finish for the Athenas in fourth place.

Also joining Parkinson in the finals for CMS were Kimiko Adler, who came in sixth place, and Karena Klinkenberg who finished ninth. The three Athenas will be all be back in action tomorrow for the one-meter dive, which gets underway with the prelims at 12:10 p.m.

Parkinson carried 152.30 points into the finals after her strong showing in prelims, while Adler had 142.65 points and Klinkenberg earned the final spot with 129.30 points. 

Ruby Epstein and Emma Van Der Veen finished 1-2 for Pomona-Pitzer, while Samantha Scarano of Redlands came in third. Epstein won a very close battle with her teammate that was decided by less than a point, with Epstein finishing with 414.50 points and Van Der Veen right behind with 413.75 points. 

Tomorrow's women's three-meter diving prelims will take place after the men's one-meter prelims, which get underway at 9:30 a.m.
