CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Torrey Hart has been a member of the CMS swimming and diving team for the past four years, specializing in the distance events, finishing in the top ten in the 1650 (eighth) at last year's SCIAC Championships.

However, she hasn't let the long hours of training for the 1650 prevent her from excelling outside of the pool as well. An Academic All-SCIAC selection as a media studies major (with a dual in American studies), Hart has been involved for most of her college career as a sports writer with The Student Life, the student newspaper covering the Claremont Colleges.

Hart has parlayed her sports media experience on campus into some national opportunites as well. She earned an internship this past summer covering Major League Baseball with Yahoo Sports in Los Angeles, and has also served for almost two years as a contributing writer for the national swimming website, swimswam.com.

Among all of her impressive collegiate experiences, though, she rates being a part of the CMS swimming and diving program right at the top. "Being a CMS student-athlete has really given me a close family," Hart said. "I've never had a closer group of friends, and they are defintely groups of friendships that I'll have for a lifetime. Having a group of 50, 60 people who are there for you at any given time is unbeatable."
