Six CMS divers selected to compete in NCAA Regionals

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The 2017 NCAA Diving competition for Region 2 is set to take place Feb. 24-25 at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. The six divers from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps who qualified are: freshman Kendall Hollimon (CMC), sophomore Jacque Desmond (CMC), juniors Nia-Renee Cooper (SC) and Maia Presti (SC), and seniors Carli Lessard (HMC) and Mary Lynn Clark (SC).

In the SCIAC Championships, Hollimon was the top finisher on both boards. On the women's side, Presti won the 1-meter board on the first day of the championships. Lessard placed third in the 3-meter competition on the third day. All five Athena divers placed in the top-10 in each competition.

Schedule:
Friday, Feb. 24 - Women's 3M & Men's 1M
Saturday, Feb. 25 – Women's 1M & Men's 3M

The qualifiers to the National Championships will be assigned by alternating between the highest finisher on day one and the highest finisher on day two, considering that divers already invited will be skipped. The 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships will be held over a four-day period, March 15-18, at the CISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas.
