Swim wraps up first two days of Winter Invite

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – In the first two days of the Winter Invite, the Claremont Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving team have delivered a number of top-3 performances and one time that cracked into the program's top-10. Freshman Claire Bacon-Brenes (SC) finished both the prelims and the finals with the second fastest time, ultimately touching at 1:05.93 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Freshman Henry Limm (HMC) was CMS' lone top-finisher in the finals, posting a time of 4:07.43 in the 400-yard individual medley.

Overall, the men's team had seven top-3 finishes in the prelims over both days. Limm in the 400 IM and freshman Sam Willett (CMC) in the 200-yard individual medley (1:56.50) both finished with the fastest times in their respective events. Sophomore Aaron Lutzker (HMC) finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (51.60) and third in the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.22). Freshman Alex Moody (HMC) put up a time of 1:45.30 in the 200-yard freestyle, good for the second fastest time in the event's prelims and then sophomore John Jeang (HMC) finished with the third fastest in the 100-yard backstroke (53.60). Four CMS swimmers were in the top-10 for the 100 breast on the men's side with sophomore Tyler Welty (CMC) leading the pack and placing third in the prelims at 58.93.

The Stags and Athenas continue competition in the Winter Invite today, Sunday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. for the prelims and 5 p.m. for the finals. Live streaming is available via La Verne's portal.
