200 medley relay team highlights first day of NCAA Championships for Athenas

SHENANDOAH, Texas – Behind the performance of its 200-yard medley relay team, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's swimming & diving team earned 12 points and sits in a tie for 22nd overall after the first day of competition at the NCAA Division III Championships, held on March 18 at the Conroe Natatorium.

The best swim of the first day of competition for the Athenas came in its last event, the 200-yard medley relay consolation final, which sophomore Kelly Ngo, sophomore Stephanie Doi, freshman Lorea Gwo and senior LillyBelle Deer combined for a time of 1:44.72. That time placed CMS in 11th for honorable mention All-America status.

In the 200-yard individual medley, sophomore Emily McKinnon swam in the morning preliminaries and ended with a time of 2:09.63 for 37th overall.

The 50-yard freestyle saw sophomore Kelly Ngo swim in the preliminaries with a time of 23.75 for a 26th place finish overall. Her time was just off her CMS record time of 23.56, set in 2014.
