Seven divers from CMS participating in NCAA Zone 2 Regionals

SAN ANTONIO, Texas –  A group of seven Claremont-Mudd-Scripps divers (four Stags and three Athenas) are participating in the NCAA Division III Zone 2 Diving Regionals hosted by Trinity (Texas) University at the Josh Davis Natatorium Feb. 27-28. The event is scheduled to run roughly from 3-6 p.m. on Friday and 12-3 p.m. on Saturday, all times are central time.

For the Stags, senior James Stevick (CMC), freshman Patrick Quarberg (CMC), senior James Kabellis (CMC) and freshman Victor Ginelli (CMC) all received an invite. Stevick is coming off a sweep of the 1 and 3-meter dives at the SCIAC Championships. Quarberg finished in second behind Stevick in the 3-meter event with a score of 556.35 while Kabellis ended up in seventh. The freshman Quarberg also had the second-highest score for CMS in the 1-meter.

The Athenas are represented in San Antonio by sophomore Carli Lessard (HMC), sophomore Maia Presti (SCR) and sophomore Mary Lynn Clark (SCR).

At the SCIAC Championships in the 1-meter diving event, Presti finished in first with a SCIAC record score of 525.35 while Lessard finished in second place with a score of 462.15 which also beat the previous conference record. Mary Lynn Clark scored in the top-10 as well with a score of 400.95 to finish in eighth. Lessard led the pack in the 3-meter dive with a finals score of 441.20 and Mary Lynn Clark came in third place.
