Rhiann Holman Named First-Team All-West for CMS Women's Soccer; Pratt, Buenconsejo on Third Team

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior midfielder Rhiann Holman earned a spot on the All-West Region first team from the United Soccer Coaches, while center backs Grace Pratt and Gracyn Buenconsejo were named to the third team, the organization announced today.

Holman, a three-time first-team All-SCIAC selection, was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West team for the first time in her career. She led CMS in scoring for the third year in a row, finishing the season with eight goals and seven assists to match her career high with 23 points. She finished her career with 25 goals and 14 assists for 64 points, including 10 goals as a junior in 2018.

Holman helped the CMS women's soccer team earn an NCAA bid, where it matched its deepest tournament run in program history by reaching the Round of 16. After not qualifying for the SCIAC Tournament, a bid to the NCAA Tournament seemed out of reach, but Holman's efforts in the regular season were a big reason why CMS got the bid. She had the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Pacific Lutheran, which won 16 games in a row after falling to the Athenas before winning the Northwest Conference title, and also had the only goal in a 1-0 home win over Cal Lutheran, which gave CMS another quality win on its resume.

Also playing a big part in the success for CMS were Pratt and Buenconsejo, who were part of a revamped back four for the Athenas this season after CMS lost all four of its starters on defense from last year. The duo helped CMS to just an 0.57 goals against average on the year, including 10 shutouts in 20 games, one of which came in a 0-0 tie at Cal Lutheran in the NCAA Second Round, which the Athenas won on penalty kicks.

CMS finished the year with an 11-5-4 record after falling to No. 3 Washington University 2-1 in overtime in the NCAA Round of 16.  It was one of only two games all season when the Athenas gave up more than one goal.
