Four Athenas named to All-SCIAC Teams

PASADENA, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named four members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's soccer team on the All-Conference Teams on Tuesday. Seniors Laynee Laube (CMC), Katelyn Faust (CMC), and junior Jacey Coniff (HMC) were named to the First Team while senior Amy Johnson (CMC) was listed on the Second Team.

Laube leads the conference with 11 goals, including three in the SCIAC Tournament, and is the only player in the SCIAC to score in double digits this season. She is also tied for second in assists in the conference, compiling four this season. This is Laube's first All-SCIAC award.

Faust also earns her first All-SCIAC nod in 2016. She is tied for second in the SCIAC with eight goals and has notched three game-winners this season against Carthage, UC Santa Cruz and Redlands.

For the Athena defense, Coniff and Johnson have played key roles in holding their opponents scoreless nine times this season, including a dominant 4-0 shutout against Chapman in the SCIAC Tournament final on Saturday night. Coniff has proven to be a true anchor for the Athenas' backline, covering gaps and staying on her mark. She also leads the team in minutes played this season.  Johnson has been a reliable ball-winner for the Athenas, breaking up passes from the opposing midfield and helping CMS control possession. This season marks the second consecutive year that both Coniff and Johnson represent the CMS defense on the All-SCIAC teams.

CMS faces Pacific Lutheran in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 1:30 p.m. on Pomona-Pitzer's soccer field.
