Four Athenas named to All-SCIAC soccer teams

PASADENA, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's soccer team landed four players on the All-SCIAC teams after a second place finish in the regular season. Junior Makella Brems (CMC) and sophomore Jacey Coniff (HMC) were named to the first team while senior Darrah Shields (CMC) and junior Amy Johnson (CMC) were voted onto the second team, as released by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Nov. 10.

Brems earns her second consecutive All-SCIAC award after first team honors in 2014. This season, Brems had two goals and one assist and deftly led the Athenas from the midfield. Also on the offense, Shields topped the team with seven goals and six assists, amassing 20 points on the season, landing her at seventh in the conference. This season's award marks Shields' second All-SCIAC honor as well.

These are Coniff and Johnson's first all-conference awards. Coniff captained the defense from the back row and was the go-to player for free kicks in the middle third of the field. Both Coniff and Johnson contributed to a SCIAC-leading eight shutouts on the season and a mere 0.90 goal against average. Coniff tallied her first career assist and Johnson and recorded 10 shots on the season.
