Shields to represent CMS with USA D-III women’s soccer team in Brazil

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – USA Sports Tours and Events announced the USA D-III Soccer women's team for its Brazil Tour 2015 and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps junior women's soccer player Darrah Shields (CMC) is one of 16 players from across the country to be selected.

The team is comprised of players recognized as All-Americans, All-Region and All-Conference during the 2014 season. The 16 women's players represent 15 different colleges and universities. Shields, a first team All-Conference and third team All-Region recipient in 2014, is the only Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) player on the team and one of just two players from the West Region.

The USA D-3 Soccer tour will run from May 26 through June 4. The squad will begin with orientation and practice in Orlando, Fla. for the first two days. The team then flies to Sao Paulo, Brazil for back-to-back-to-back contests in the city of Jundiai and two additional cities in the state of Sao Paulo on May 28, 29 and 30. The teams will then travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for one more contest on June 2.  The USA D-3 Soccer team will be competing against top U-22 club teams from the States of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. 

Aside from representing the United States on the pitch, the trip will also provide participants with educational, social and cultural outreach opportunities within the communities they visit, and will also allow them to visit schools and historical sites throughout Brazil.
