THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Hardin-Simmons scored a goal in each half to top the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's soccer team 2-0 in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championships on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Rolland Stadium. The loss ended CMS' season with a 10-9-3 record.
Hardin-Simmons scored its first goal in the 20th minute, a goal by Katie Haltiwanger which deflected off a CMS defender and then in to the back of the net. Devon Howard had the assist.
The next 65 minutes saw CMS' defense keep Hardin-Simmons scoreless, but in the 86th minute Haltiwanger scored her second goal of the match to seal the 2-0 win.
Hardin-Simmons outshot CMS 13-7 in the game. CMS senior GK Hannah Dunham had seven saves in net.
