CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team dropped its first game of the season on Thursday night, as No. 20 Pomona-Pitzer defended its home field with a 17-2 win at the South Athletics Complex.
With the win, Pomona-Pitzer moves to 6-0 on the season, including 5-0 in SCIAC games, while CMS sees its record slip to 2-1 overall, all in league games.
CMS wasn't able to get on the board until the third quarter, when Bella Lynch converted a free-position shot to make it an 8-1 game. Abby Parrish also had second-half goal for the Athenas. Kendall Chapko had eight saves in 26 minutes for CMS, several on free-position attempts.
Cate Lewison picked up five ground balls to lead both teams, while Emma Merk had two caused turnovers. Sydney Landauer led Pomona-Pitzer with four goals and two assists.
CMS will be back in action at home on Sunday, when it takes on Oneonta for a 1 p.m. contest.
