CMS Women's Lacrosse Picks up Shutout Win over Cal Lutheran

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team earned a 23-0 win over Cal Lutheran to complete the first half of the SCIAC schedule on Wednesday evening at Zinda Field.

With the win, CMS improves to 5-1 on the season, all in league games, while Cal Lutheran slips to 0-6. 

Senior Sara Reid went the distance in goal to get a shutout, making two saves, both of which came in the opening minutes of the second half while CMS was playing a player down due to a yellow card. Offensively, CMS had four players record hat tricks, with senior Emma Johnson leading the way with three goals and three assists. Senior Luisa Valles had three goals and an assist, senior Juliana Clark had three goals and sophomore Alex Futterman also had three. 

The Athenas reached the 10-goal margin for a running clock within the game's first 7:30, as senior Allie Hill scored her first of two goals to make it 10-0. Senior Sascha Reynolds also had two goals and two assists, as five members of the senior class had multi-goal games, while senior defender Zoe Ryan also came forward for a goal. 

Tessa Guerra had a goal and two assist, while also adding goals for CMS were Alex Wilson, Katelyn Sparks, Aliza Mayer, Annie Cave and Julia Mueller. Contributing to the scoring totals with assists were Abby Parrish, Bella Godes and Eloise Shields. Valles and Sparks led CMS with three caused turnovers apiece. 

Due to the cancellation of the spring trip to New England, where the NESCAC schools have suspended their seasons, the next scheduled game for CMS is at Colorado College on Saturday, March 28. All future scheduled games are subject to change.
