No. 22 Women's Lacrosse Takes Down Visiting Mustangs

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The No. 22 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team defeated the Stevenson Mustangs on Zinda Field. The Athenas took a 6-1 lead at the half and never looked back earning a 12-4 victory over the Stevenson Mustangs. Corie Hack (CMC) led the way with five goals on the night.

The Mustangs opened the scoring on Monday night with a goal just over a minute into the game. Dana Stevens pushed the ball forward in transition and earned a free position attempt. Stevens connected on her attempt to put Stevenson up 1-0.

The Athenas responded swiftly with six-straight goals to end the half. The Mustangs were held scoreless over the final 28 minutes of the period and during that stretch, CMS held Stevenson to just one shot . The Athenas took 19 shots over the course of the half and connected on a half dozen goals.

CMS began to pull away in the second-half, eventually opening up a 12-2 lead with 6:29 remaining in the game. Stevenson scored a pair of late goals, but the Athenas earned the 12-4 victory.

Corie Hack connected three times in the opening half to help build the 6-1 lead at the break. She scored two more in the second-half to help CMS pull away from the Mustangs.

Hannah Graves (CMC) scored two goals in the second-half and a total of seven different Athenas scored in the game.

The victory moves the Athenas to 6-1 on the season and they will next take the field on Wednesday when they host Springfield at 4:00 p.m.
