Connell and Hack on IWLCA All-West Region teams
CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) named 256 student-athletes in Division III to one of the All-Region teams for 2016 on May 13. Sophomore attacker Mikaela Connell (CMC) was named to the First Team and freshman midfielder Corie Hack (CMC) earned Second Team honors in the West Region.
Connell earns her first all-region award and is now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams to be released on May 18. She finished the season with 28 goals and 17 assists for 45 points, leading the Athenas. She was almost 50% successful converting her shots to goals and also picked up 27 ground balls.
As a freshman, this is Hack's first all-region selection as well. She led CMS with 35 goals on the season as a midfielder. Additionally, she led the team in caused turnovers (27) and shots on goal (62). Last week, Hack was selected by the SCIAC as the Newcomer of the Year.
The Athenas finished the regular season in the SCIAC in a three-way tie for first place at 8-2. CMS was ousted from the tournament by Chapman but finished the season at 13-4 overall.
