The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team earned individual and Academic Squad honors by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) after the 2015 season.

On July 1, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2014-15 Spring All-Academic Teams. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps students made up 70 of the 436 athletes honored.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps players sophomore Cara Cancelmo (CMC) and freshman Lauren Clubb (CMC) were honored by the The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as All-Regional Performers. In Division III, 256 students were selected onto two teams in each of the eight regions.

Freshman Lauren Clubb and sophomore Cara Cancelmo earned First Team honors while freshmen Ellen Berkley and Mikaela Connell were named to the Second Team, as announced by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) on May 11.

Redlands ushers CMS to early exit from SCIAC Championships

From start to finish, fourth-seeded University of Redlands led as they went on to defeat the No. 5 seed Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team 13-7 in the quarterfinals of the SCIAC Championships at Redlands’ Farquhar Field on April 22.

At the conclusion of the regular season games, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps lacrosse team ended up in a three-way tie for third place with a 5-5 conference record and is the fifth seed going into the SCIAC Championships.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team dropped to 2-3 on the road in conference play after a 14-8 loss to Chapman on the road on April 18.

Strong second half by Sagehens too much for Athenas

The CMS women’s lacrosse team lost to Pomona-Pitzer 11-8 on Wednesday night. A late second half push by the Sagehens proved to be too much for the Athenas. CMS is now 8-5 overall and 5-4 in SCIAC.

Senior night all it takes to get Athenas back on track

April 11, 2015

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team put an emphatic end to their four game losing streak with an impressive 16-5 win over Whittier College. On senior night, where all the seniors started, the Athenas seemed to have new life on the field as they dominated the draw controls and the ground balls throughout the match. The Athenas now move to 5-3 in SCIAC and 8-4 overall, which keeps them tied for second in conference.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team was handed their fourth loss in a row Wednesday, this time a 15-9 defeat at the hands of Redlands on the road.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team hit the road on April 2 and were defeated 9-8 by Occidental in SCIAC play.

Offensive woes give Athenas first loss of the season

March 18, 2015

The CMS women’s lacrosse team lost their first match of the season to Plymouth St. 10-7. The Plymouth Panthers defense slowed down the faced past offense of the Athenas as they held them to just four goals in the first half and three goals in the second half. The Athenas are now 7-1 overall and 4-0 in conference.

The CMS Athenas played an aggressive brand of lacrosse in their 13-9 win over Chapman University on March 4 in SCIAC play. With the win, CMS remains perfect at 5-0 on the season and is in first place in the SCIAC with a 4-0 conference record.

A free position goal by sophomore midfielder Cara Cancelmo (CMC) just under two minutes into overtime gave the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team an 8-7 win at Pomona-Pitzer on Feb. 28 in SCIAC play.
