Athenas offense on fire as they defeat Pacific University

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas beat Pacific University (OR) to keep their now six game win streak alive and showed no signs of cooling off as they outscored their opponent 19-9 on Monday night.

CMS scored early with 29:21 remaining on the clock and continued their great offensive display to end the first half with 13 goals. Pacific University Boxers looked to keep up with the Athenas as they had seven goals in the first half led by Amy Mayhugh who had five goals.  However, in the second half Mayhugh was shut out by the stifling defense of the Athenas and the Boxers were only able to come away with two more goals for the game. The Athenas kept the scoring coming as they tallied another six goals in the second half.

CMS was led by sophmore Izzy Laterzo and junior Hilary Slauson who both had five goals.  Freshman Cara Cancelmo scored three goals and led the Athenas with two assists.

The Athenas take field on Wednesday, March 26 at home verses DePauw (IN) at 7:00 p.m.
