In its Pacific Northwest spring break trip through Oregon and Washington from March 17-20, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team went 3-0 with wins at Puget Sound (10-9), George Fox (17-6) and Linfield (19-3). CMS has now won five matches in a row dating back to the beginning of March and are 6-3 on the season, 2-3 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
CMS 10, at Puget Sound 9 (March 17)
In the first match of the trip, CMS had to hold off a second half rally by Puget Sound over the final 10 minutes to escape with the win. CMS led 10-4 with 9:24 left in the match after a goal by freshman mid Cara Cancelmo. Puget Sound then ran off five-straight goals to narrow the CMS lead to 10-9 with 44 seconds remaining, but CMS held on for the win in a game that they led 6-1 at halftime. Senior attacker Anthea Weixel had a team-high three goals. Sophomore goalie Sara Ginsburg had 11 saves in net for CMS.

CMS 17, at George Fox 6 (March 19)
A dominant first half by the Athenas put away the match early as the Athenas led 10-1 at halftime behind goals from seven different players. CMS scored the first five goals of the match over the first 10 minutes. George Fox got on the board with 19:17 left in the first half on a goal by Alexa Nakashimada. CMS then answered with another 5-0 run to put the game away. Eight different players scored in the match for CMS led by four individuals (freshman mid Zoe Pinczower, Weixel, Cancelmo and sophomore Molly O'Donnell) with three goals each.

CMS 19, at Linfield 3 (March 20)
Similar to its match the day before against George Fox, CMS got out to a commanding lead by scoring the first 16 goals of the match. Linfield's first goal came 40-plus minutes into the match at the 19:12 mark of the second half by Shelby Duarte. Weixel had a team-high six scores in the match and totaled 12 over the three-game trip. Sophomore Kate Anello had four saves in net for CMS.

The Athenas return home on Monday, March 24 to face another Oregon school, Pacific, on Zinda Field at 7 p.m.
