Athenas fall to TCNJ Lions

After an exciting season the Athena’s post season run ended Saturday against The College of New Jersey with a 20-8 loss. The Athenas went into the match 16-2 but were up against perennial powerhouse TCNJ who have previously won 13 National Championships. The teams traded goals early on but the Lions were able to get a 10-3 lead with two four goal spurts. Three unanswered goals by the Athenas before the half brought the margin to 10-6 but that was as close as the Athenas would get. The Lions, maintained ball possession for much of the second half and went on a 9 goal run that the Athenas could not overcome. The Lions were led by Kathleen Notos who had 6 goals as well as 4 a piece from Alison Jaeger and Sara Keating. The Athenas were led by Sarah Dick and Madison Shove who each had a hat trick on the day.
